George Edward HAWES, son of Charles HAWES (c. 1867-c. 1920) and Mary Ann WALKER (c. 1860-c. 1950), was born circa 1898 in Bressingham, Norfolk. He was baptised on 10 April 1898 in Bressingham - parents Charles (publican) and Mary Ann. George died on 20 November 1917 in France. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave registration entry for George was “HAWES, Pte. George Edward, 41941. 1st Bn. Essex Regt. 20th Nov., 1917.” George is commemorated at Cambrai Memorial, Louverval - Panel 7 and 8.
